The Why:
Carrington’s Vision for the Whole-School Curriculum
Our unique children deserve an inclusive, holistic curriculum that shapes them as confident, inquisitive and proud individuals. At Carrington, children know that they matter, they are important and that they bring something to this world that no-one else can.
Through purposeful, broad and rich experiences, we aim for every child to leave us with an empowered voice and a life-long passion for learning, equipped with the skills to go on and be compassionate and active citizens both locally and beyond.
We believe in an ambitious, knowledge-rich curriculum because children are empowered by knowing things. The specifics of what children learn matter and subject traditions are respected, providing the vital inspiration, challenge and confidence to determine their own future.
Carrington’s Vision for Science
Science will foster a sense of excitement and curiosity about their world which provides the foundations for understanding their environment through the specific strands of biology, chemistry and physics. Pupils will develop a recognition of the ways in which science change lives and is vital to building a prosperous world where sustainability is at the core.
The science curriculum will build a body of key foundational knowledge and concepts drawing on the work of a diverse range of world scientists. This will encourage children to develop the knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science now and for the future.
Children will learn to think and ask questions like a scientist and to understand how science can be used to explain what is happening around them, predict how things will behave, and analyse causes.
