The Why:

Carrington’s Vision for the Whole-School Curriculum

Our unique children deserve an inclusive, holistic curriculum that shapes them as confident, inquisitive and proud individuals. At Carrington, children know that they matter, they are important and that they bring something to this world that no-one else can.

Through purposeful, broad and rich experiences, we aim for every child to leave us with an empowered voice and a life-long passion for learning, equipped with the skills to go on and be compassionate and active citizens both locally and beyond.

We believe in an ambitious, knowledge-rich curriculum because children are empowered by knowing things. The specifics of what children learn matter and subject traditions are respected, providing the vital inspiration, challenge and confidence to determine their own future.

Carrington’s Vision for Geography

Geography plays a fundamental role helping our children make sense of the world around them and understand who they are. We aim to foster a life-long curiosity and passion for our world and the people in it; equipping children with knowledge about a range of places, near and far.

The geography curriculum will offer a balance of windows and mirrors, broadening children’s horizons whilst reflecting, exploring and comparing their personal geographies. The knowledge their acquire will help our children appreciate the diversity to be found in different corners of the globe and empower them to make a positive contribution towards a fair, peaceful and sustainable world.

Children will learn to think geographically, answering their own questions by employing practical fieldwork skills, deepening their understanding of the interaction between human and physical processes and mastering the language of geography.
