How to Report a Concern
Carrington Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all of its pupils and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The safety and wellbeing of all of the children is everyone’s responsibility.
If you have any safeguarding concerns
In school:
- Please see one of our DSLs Mr Digges, Miss Crisp or Mrs Swankie
- You can telephone school and request to speak with a DSL. It is important you explain when telephoning that the nature of your call is a serious safeguarding concern and our office staff will be sure to put you in contact with one of the school’s DSLs.
Further support can be found from Nottingham City Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (known as MASH) if a child, parent, family member of member of the public has a worry about a child:
- City MASH is operational Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:50 pm

How do we keep children safe in school?
- Clear procedures and policies for all staff and stakeholders to follow to report any concerns
- A proactive, vigilant safeguarding culture where all staff make the safety of pupils the number one priority.
- Knowledge that children need to keep themselves and others safe is learned in a well-sequenced and detailed safeguarding curriculum that cross a number of curriculum areas from RSHE to computing and includes a wide range of topics such as online safety, sex and relationships education and social and emotional wellbeing.
- Regular high-quality training for staff to ensure up to date knowledge of new initiatives and government documents and pressing issues most relevant to Carrington.
- Safer recruitment practices.
Police
If you believe that a child is at immediate risk and in need of protection then you should call the Police – 999 immediately. Alternatively, if you feel the child is a risk of abuse or neglect, but not in immediate need of protection, you should call the Police on 101.
