At Carrington Primary School, it is our intent that Religious Education equips pupils with the knowledge and skills to answer challenging questions, explore different religious beliefs, values and traditions and develop an understanding of the religious traditions, beliefs and practices that are followed in our school community and beyond. Nottingham is a multicultural city and our local area is diverse and constantly changing. It is important that are pupils are aware of this and have an appreciation and respect for the diversity of the local area. Religious education promotes respect and open-mindedness towards others with different faiths and beliefs and encourages pupils to develop their sense of identity and belonging through self-awareness and reflection. Our lessons aim to promote and welcome cultural diversity, to develop understanding and tolerance.
