Welcome to Class One!

Welcome to Class One! This is just to let you know some of the things your children will be studying this term and some of the new routines they will encounter. We have planned the school day carefully to keep everyone safe, happy and learning and we are looking forward to getting to know your children properly.
This term our topic is This is Me. We will be doing lots of science about human body parts (this includes naming sexual parts) and work about ourselves, our families and where we live. Maths, English and phonics will be taught daily.
Due to the Covid pandemic some routines will be different to usual.
P.E. days will be on Tuesdays and Fridays and it will always be outside. We would like children to come to school in their kit (joggers or leggings, a top and plimsolls or trainers) on those days.
We would like children to keep their reading books at home. Please bring them to school on Fridays only and we will change them.
On Fridays your child will also bring home some spellings and their ‘talk homework’ for the week.
Please remind children not to bring in toys from home at the moment.
Lots of learning will be happening outside this term so, even if it seems warm, please send your child with a coat every day.
Water is always available to the children and they each have a named cup in school. If you would like them to bring in their own water bottle please name it clearly.
Whilst we are working hard to make the transition between Foundation and Year One a smooth one we recognise that it is a change of gear for the children. Please talk to us or send a message on Class Dojo if you feel you have any concerns.
